Camping at Pearrygin State Park part1

Friday May 3-Saturday May 4 (Days 272/273)

Off to eastern Washington on a beautiful spring day! The weather will only get better as we head east. We drove up highway 9 to Arlington, then continued on 530 to Darrington and Rockport where it met up with highway 20, the North Cascades Highway. The road meandered through beautiful countryside, with so many different shades of spring greens on trees and bushes. The sun glinted of the snow on White Horse Mountain, against a backdrop of blue, blue sky. "Perfect!" we kept saying....
Traveling with Harris means stopping for geocaches.
In the woods.....

At small roadside chapels.....

Even where cows keep guard over the cache. Can you spot it?

We stopped for a photo at the top of Diablo Dam and Ross Lake.

And we arrived at Pearrygin State Park in time for cocktails before dinner. Marilyn and Gene had been fishing there for several days....so we had fresh trout for dinner. But camping with Marilyn always means great food....and wine....unfortunately we didn't take a pic this first night.

Marilyn took Judy out fishing on Saturday morning. How long has it been since Judy cast a line into a lake? If you could have seen her trying it, over and over and over...you'd swear she'd never done it before. But, because Marilyn is so patient, and the lake so well stocked, it didn't take long before Judy caught her limit.

Saturday night was our turn to cook, so Harris did the steaks and salads and potatoes. Judy brought chocolate covered strawberries for dessert and oatmeal cookies. Gene brought the wine.
Another "perfect" day, evening and night....except Judy lost at cards...again....big time.

Total miles driven = 183
