New Thomas Family

Saturday, April 7, 2012 Day 300

The weather here in St. Augustine has been perfect almost the entire week...until yesterday and today. The sun is still out,but the wind has not subsided enough for us to use the beach for the wedding. Plan B went into effect.
We decided to move the ceremony to the tent outside the house, and move the wedding dinner and dancing inside the house. So, we. and our many helpers moved all the furniture to the garage to have room for the tables and chairs. Then many hands went into decorating the spaces. It turned out beautifully! (Thank you, Sana and Dwight!)
Serenity was a truly beautiful bride in a blush pink gown. Kyle wore a white wedding shirt and white pants. They wrote their own vows, and brought most of those attending to tears with their words of love and devotion. Their rings were passed around the gathering to be "warmed" with prayers and wishes before being exchanged. Although the weather was a little windy, the ocean was a gorgeous backdrop to the ceremony.
After this, we all moved into the house, where Marilyn, Tasha, Ewan, Keith and Theresa had all made a most wonderful feast of hors d'oeuvres, teriyaki beef skewers, barbequed salmon and chicken with lots and lots of other delicious things to eat. Many thanks for their marathon cooking sessions to bring all this about!
After dinner, toasts were made that brought more tears to our eyes. Then we moved the tables out and danced the night away. We decided later that night that the wind was a blessing in disguise. Having all this inside made it a more intimate gathering. We loved every minute of it. ( well, almost every minute..the clean up wasn't fun. But again, many hands made light work.)
We are grateful to our family and friends that made the trip here to be a part of this wedding. We enjoyed meeting new people who also made the trip from New Jersey, Maryland and Gainesville.
Most of all, we are so glad to welcome Serenity and her brother Reliance into our family.
