Castillo De San Marcos, where we had lunch
Today was a lot like yesterday, except the weather was better. Yesterday was hot. Today it was a wonderful 75 degrees, with very low humidity and a light breeze blowing.
Tourist Lane otherwise known as George Street
We went back into St. Augustine, and took the trolley tour to some new spots. We toured the Pirate Museum. It is a wonderful place, and we could see why it’s recommended for families. There are many interactive exhibits, lots of information about various pirates who sailed in this area of the world, and displays of gold, silver and jewels…real pirate treasure. It didn’t sugar coat the life of a pirate, either, until the very last exhibit. That showed how romantically pirates have been viewed in movies. We enjoyed this museum.
San Sebastion Winery where we felt no pain
We went across the street to the fort, Castillo de San Marcos, to eat our sandwiches in the sunshine. Then we decided to split up for an hour. Judy went window shopping down a street filled with touristy shops. Harris went back on the trolley and listened to more stories about the city.
One of several weddings we saw during the day
After we met up again, we hopped back on the trolley and headed for San Sebastian winery. There was a geocache there that we found, and then we did the tour and wine tasting. Very nice wine! And very generous “tastes”! We were told that you should take at least 3 swallows of each wine before knowing whether or not you like it. Our portions allowed us to do this and more. We left feeling very happy, but decided not to buy any wine.
The smallest Hilton you'll ever see
(due to height restrictions)
By this time the trolleys were beginning their last rounds for the night, so we rode one back to Howie and came back to the park for dinner. It’s a beautiful night, especially since it’s cooling off a bit.
