Spring Training Day 8

Saturday March 10, 2012 Day 272

The great weather continued today with a high of 78—awesome! Harris kept in touch with the progress/status of the Belgrade girls basketball run at state via texts from Rick. The girls took third in state with a record of 3 and 1, dang impressive.

Today was also the day to get the Nanostation situation fixed. Harris borrowed a step ladder from a RV neighbor and took it to the game so he could stop by Best Buy after the game and check the Ethernet cable on Howie’s roof. Rizo, the Best Buy home theater guy, had a nifty little Ethernet cable connection checker. It’s made of 2 parts which the Ethernet ends plug into. The units communicate with each other and tells you weather there is a short, split, ground, or miswire. Turns out Harris had miswire/connection problem. After redoing the inside Ethernet plug the Nanostation was once again operational! Harris will be able to upload the blog tonight without having to leave Howie!

The baseball game in Peoria was popular today since the Mariners were playing the LA Dodgers and it was a weekend game. Total crowd was almost 10,000 but Harris found a great lawn seat similar to his usual ones the past week. The M’s hit well today again pushing across 4 runs in the 6th to take a 5-2 lead before both teams pulled out many of the game’s starters. By the 9th inning the Dodgers caught up and the game ended in a tie 5-5.

After fixing the Ethernet connection in the Best Buy parking lot, Harris decided to go for a double header and drive across town to take in the other Mariner game of the day (split squad) at the new Arizona stadium in the Salt Flats. When he got there, he found out that it had been sold out and he was one of many people wandering around disappointed. But lo and behold, there was a car show winding down right next to the stadium in the McDonald’s parking lot. Harris rode his bike up and down the rows gawking at all the cars and thinking how his brother Al would have enjoyed showing his car and seeing the assembled lot of cars. Harris spent more than a little bit of time admiring the VW’s which brought back some memories of his VW ownership days. After arriving home he dropped off the ladder, called his wife and found out that Ewan was preparing her a wonderful meal tonight. Well done Ewan!

Total miles driven today = 70
